Day 16: A Lazy, Rainy Day
It was raining pretty hard today so I decided I didn't want to do too much outside. I opted to go hang out near Skytree for a bit since I hadn't been in the area on my trip so far.
It's hard to convey in photos but it really is so imposing. I'm the type of person that gets uncomfortable looking up at tall things looming above me, so Skytree definitely gives me that feeling when I'm right under it.

I ended up going back to Sumida Aquarium for a while. I think I probably mentioned last year too but I think this is very Instagrammable aquarium but it's pretty short and costs ¥2,500. Very nice to look at though.

Other than the jellyfish, I also really like the little eels, or I'm pretty sure they're eels.

I think probably the biggest draw for the aquarium is that they have a TON of penguins. I think I saw a sign that mentioned that they have 56 of them now. I had actually been a little concerned because the seal exhibit (or were they sea lions? are those the same?) was seemingly directly attached and I felt like maybe they had a predatory relationship. But I don't think they were connected anyway!

Another defining feature is that they update their penguin relationship chart annually! Be sure to check it out, it's in English this year!
After looking around for a while, I ended up grabbing a bite to eat. I had grabbed a "Stamina Oyakodon" thinking it would give me stamina, but it ended up making me incredibly tired!

I browsed around for a while in the mall attached to Skytree and bought some souvenirs. I decided there was no need to go to the top of Skytree since I've done it before, it's scary, it's expensive, and there's no chance for me to see Mt. Fuji on a rainy day. I'm not biased against going up in a tall tower...
A few hours later, I also made sure to make an important pilgrimage to the Akihabara Mister Donut location. It's not actually super important but basically there's a pair of twins in Hololive, FuwaMoco, that had posted a photo eating at the specific location on the second floor after moving to Japan. Since then, FuwaMoco fans have flocked there to specifically try eating Mister Donut's pon-de-rings.

I didn't eat in the exact iconic location, since those seats were occupied, but I did take a photo later. Oh, one other important thing to mention is that this location is actually closing permanently the day after tomorrow. FuwaMoco are actually planning a specific stream about it lol Embedded below because I think the thumbnail is pretty good
I thought I should make the small effort to go while I had the chance. It's crazy the kind of accidental power a lot of VTubers (and regular streamers, celebrities, content-creators, etc.) have these days. Even if 1% of their fandom do something, it can be tens of thousands of people doing it. I vaguely remember some VTuber saying the kind of perfume she wore and then it went out of stock immediately on Amazon so that fans could see what it smelled like (so hopefully the VTuber had a good stockpile of it).
Anyway, talk to you next time!
