Flyers, Pamphlets, Etc.

I thought it might be kind of cool to have a page of all of the flyers I could round up for events I ended up attending or any that had really caught my eye! I actually am kind of interested in these types of advertisements since they basically end up being lost media. Even the websites for peoples/companies/etc. that host events end up taking down the flyer images eventually or the links get broken or they switch storage providers and the old images or their links are broken and/or lost in the shuffle.

Even links to sites and images I had visited in 2023 are broken on my 2023 blog and it's hard to replace them retroactively.

I don't own the rights to any of these images and I will link the sites I pulled them from to make this page as I go.

Tokyo Edo Week, Day 1

Peach Craftea

Not totally sure if that's the correct localization of the name, but this is one of my favorite drinks that was pretty widely available. While I was there, I noticed that there were a few times when I got different bottles - I think the new bottle was a bit shorter and wider than the old one (or was it the other way?). I was looking up a flyer about it but couldn't find anything.

But I did stumble upon some gold. As part of the re-release (or something), the brand Kochakoden (owned by Coca Cola, of course) commissioned illustrator Naoki Saito to draw some advertisements for the brand.

From the Kochakoden Instagram page

Like I always say, more companies would sell more products if they had anime mascots. They are also making good use of the Instagram photo grid.

Actually, going down this rabbit hole a little, I found out that there an associated promo and the LINE messaging app that let you redeem points and get prizes. If I am looking at the page correctly, you could earn 1 point per day by buying and scanning the Kochakoden products and then redeem them first-come-first-serve. The most interesting prize to me were the cards. They had 500 each of 4 types of cards for a total of 2000. They do look pretty nice but on Mercari the going rate seems to be roughly $350 USD for the full set of 4... Worth? TBH considering buying but I know I definitely don't need them lol

The peach tea I liked so much also pictured in the bottom right.

Genshin x KFC

At the time of writing, this is actually already kind of lost media since the official website, https://www.kfc.co.jp/campaign/genshin, already gives a 404. I was able to get the images from a different site that reports on anime collabs though.

This was one of the collabs that I knew about ahead of time that I wanted to visit. The Genshin meal came with in-game rewards like a glider, recipes, and a card back for the in-game TCG.

I ended up going 3 times to get the Genshin set in order to get the in-game items for me and a couple of other people. I probably could have made a job out of it scalping the codes on reddit or something but that would have been tedious lol

I also got the Lynette mini clear file for an extra ¥350. Maybe I should have got the Lyney too but I don't know what to do with regular clear files much less mini ones. And I already have a ton of both! haha It would have been cool to get one of the acrylic stands, but there were only like 1000 total made. Why are they so limited!

Riichi City × STEINS;GATE

I had seen the advertisement for this in a train station. Actually this is another interesting thing related to my collection of flyers here... Even if I collect the advertising materials or event flyers here, it might not actually reflect what it was that initially drew me to an event or collab. The flyer on the website might be different from the material on a phone-oriented surface like Instagram. The materials used to advertise in a train station likely won't ever be released publically in a digital format.

Anyway, here is the main advertising image for the collab

I actually used to play another Mahjong game - Mahjong Soul and Richii City seemed pretty similar but with more characters you could play as, etc. I did try it out for a few days but luckily eventually forgot about it. Unfortunately (probably fortunately for me), that means I didn't roll for any of the characters or their swimsuit versions lol

Re:Zero - Starting Life in Sunshine City, Day 2

The lifesize Re:Zero exhibit I saw on Day 2 was part of this event that ran from October 10, 2024 through November 4, 2024. Looking at the promo material (at https://event-info.kadokawa.co.jp/rezero-sunshinecity/), it looks like I missed out on the life-size standees and collaboration food menu somewhere!

PARCO「Emotions 2024」

I didn't blog about it but when I was in Ikebukuro PARCO, I saw tons of cool art that was part of the Emotions 2024 takeover by R11R, which appears to be some sort of creative agency. This is the third year of "Emotions" displays in PARCO. There were a lot of pieces I really liked but I'm sure I didn't see all of the art by all 216 participating artists.

From participating artist Keke's twitter: https://x.com/ktwr_/status/1838073100732354652/photo/1

All of the official Parco sites are down but there are some articles on the R11R site that have interviews with a few of the artists. I like this one with artists けけ (Keke) and Gurin.. Both have such cute art styles! I don't think these specific pieces were displayed but I really like these from the interview page

Hoepfully it doesn't go down in the near future, but you can check this blog for more photos of the event and how it looked at PARCO. You can also check sites like Pixiv or Danbooru for some of the tagged art, e.g.: https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts?tags=emotions_2024
